The business was started over 20 years ago by Tom Tiller, after a lifetime in the hospitality business as a property manager and business development manager. Tom called the business Hororata Services after the street he lived in for more than 40 years. Many of the original hospitality customers Tom started with still get their key tags from Custom Tags.
When Murray Rundle purchased the business in 2005, he changed the name to Custom Tags to reflect the business focus as specialist key tag and key ring suppliers.
